While June hasn’t been the warmest so far, we can still hope for a glorious summer holiday with plenty of sunny days and outside activities! No one wants to spend the summer cleaning though, but with a bit of planning and work now, everyone can enjoy the summer. Getting your floors summer holiday ready involves a few key steps to ensure they look fresh and are protected from the increased foot traffic and outdoor elements.

First of all, in addition to your regular cleaning, give all floors a thorough cleaning to remove dirt and grime. For hardwood and LVT, this would involve an appropriate cleaner. We stock specialist cleaners for each of our flooring brands, which you would have had a bottle of when your flooring was first installed.

Our LVT brands (such as Amtico and Karndean) are super easy to clean and incredibly hardwearing, however, for hardwood flooring, consider a protective finish on hardwood floors to prevent scratches and damage.

For carpets, keeping on top of regular hoovering makes a good start, however a seasonal deep cleaning can remove allergens and refresh the fibres. Don’t forget that well placed doormats at entrances can help minimize dirt being tracked in from outside. Rugs in high-traffic areas can also protect floors and add a seasonal touch. Having the edges of extra pieces of carpet bound provides a subtle rug, while protecting the carpet below.

Finally, if possible, rearrange furniture to create open, inviting spaces that are easy to clean and maintain during the busy summer months. This preparation will keep floors looking great and ensure your home is ready for summer holiday activities, whatever the weather!
