From the big bosses to the sales assistants, and from the fitters to the admin team, the Floor Factory family is passionate about flooring. Find out a little more about the friendly faces you might meet at our Derby showroom with our first three mini-interviews.

John Barlow – Business Part-Owner

With over 15 years in the flooring businesses behind him, John knows a thing or two about flooring. If he’s not finding out about the latest innovations in flooring, you’ll probably find him improving his tee-shot at a local golf course.  He’s been at the front of Floor Factory since its inception in 2012 and has helped create a reputation of ‘full-service customer care with pride’.

1. Flooring has seen some major innovations in recent years, but what makes you say wow in the world of flooring? Parquetry panels have been a game changer when it comes to getting a premium heritage look.
2. Floor Factory stocks everything from carpet to LVT, but what’s hot right now? Herringbone in either LVT or wood. It elevates a space without it risking going out of fashion.
3. In a movie about your life, which A-lister would you like to play you? It would hopefully have plenty of laughs so Kevin James from his ‘Paul Blart – Mall Cop’ era.
4. If you were on the Great British Bake Off, what would you bake to earn yourself a Hollywood Handshake? Classic scones. And even if I didn’t get the handshake, I’ll find a good home for them.
5. And finally, if you weren’t working with flooring, what would be your dream job? Anyone that knows me won’t be surprised by this one, but it has to be a professional golfer.

Macey Cooling – Customer Service

Don’t let her young looks fool you, Macey has been with Floor Factory for nearly a decade! Starting after she left school, she learnt the ropes from her dad, and is now very much a flooring expert. From helping you pick out the perfect flooring to flooring design, Macey will guide you every step of the way.

1. Flooring has seen some major innovations in recent years, but what makes you say wow in the world of flooring? I love nature, so it’s been so good to see the move towards sustainable and environmentally friendly flooring…and from what I’ve seen, there’s lots more to come.
2. Floor Factory stocks everything from carpet to LVT, but what’s hot right now? LVT in a herringbone style. You get the affordability and quality of LVT with the good looks of herringbone.
3. In a movie about your life, which A-lister would you like to play you? Mila Kunis!
4. If you were on the Great British Bake Off, what would you bake to earn yourself a Hollywood Handshake? He won’t be able to resist my Nutella stuffed cookies. But as a back up my gooey triple choc brownies are showstoppers.
5. And finally, if you weren’t working with flooring, what would be your dream job? I know it’s a world away from flooring, but my dream job would be a midwife or surgeon.

Katie Voxby – Administration

Even though Katie has only been with us for a year, she’s already making a big impact. Her work behind the scenes helps keep Floor Factory running smoothly.

1. Flooring has seen some major innovations in recent years, but what makes you say wow in the world of flooring? Amtico’s new Signature Designers Choice range is amazing. It really puts the luxury in the Luxury Vinyl Tiles name.
2. Floor Factory stocks everything from carpet to LVT, but what’s hot right now? Based on both my personal favourites and what the customers are loving, it has to be LVT. It’s affordable, easy to install, and there is a massive range in store.
3. In a movie about your life, which A-lister would you like to play you? Amy Adams!
4. If you were on the Great British Bake Off, what would you bake to earn yourself a Hollywood Handshake? I’ve been told my Baked Alaska is pretty good, so I would try and win him over with that.
5. And finally, if you weren’t working with flooring, what would be your dream job? The dream would be hair stylist to the stars.
